ok thank you!!

The song is the Ashokan Farewell by Jay Unger. I think the song was written within the last two decades or so, and not during the Civil War (not sure).

what is the name of this song?? it's mighty pretty.

Abe Lincoln was Welsh??? I don't think so... He is a direct descendant of Robert Lincoln and Robert Lincoln born in Hingham, Norfolk, England around 1496. Abe Lincoln is from old English stock...not Welsh...so retusyllib there's no need for you to feel ashamed !!!

Great song, it is beautiful. Abe Lincoln make me ashamed he was Welsh. He was the worst damn president in history. Look what the north and the south has become from his tryranical vision. I dispise him and teach my children to dispise him, and I hope they teach theirs the same.

What an absolute delight! You take me back to times when one's pleasure came from simpler times.

very good

Man, I love this song. talk about a beautiful arrangement, and played Dolce. This song is Monumental to me. Not many songs can move me that are made today but, this is definately a timeless piece. Sheer genius.

The musicians in the video appear to include the composer, Jay Unger, on fiddle and his wife on base. It was originally used as a farewell song for their music camp near the Ashokan Reservoir in New York State. It's the only non-period piece of music in Ken Burn's documentary.

It's not a civil war song - it belongs in this compiltion because of the Civil War decumentary of the guy at the start of the clip, Ken Burns. It was in fact written in 1982!

this is such a beautyful song it has to be my favoret civil war song . it has somuch feeling there are vary few songs in this day and age that show this much emotion.

ok - Thanks =)
