There is a bootleg foreign version on dvd. I actually bought one off Amazon. It's not bad but it's also not real dvd quality. It was just a straight dub from the VHS version (which I also own).
Damn! So professional. The Phoenix Horns rocks lead by PC. Was this on DVD? The sound quality is not that good.
Heard Face Value first time in 1985 in England, Weymouth, when I was a language student. I had heard Genesis' Mama at this time I believe but this really got me into Phil Collins solo stuff as well. As regards Hand In Hand - definetely one of the best live performances on the NJR video. Takes me a long way back to some great times in the teenage years :-)
Great performence.
HAHAHA, I love the way Phil looks at Don at 6:50 lol
This is a great orchestra led by a genius !!!!
Phil rocks. This is a solid masterpiece thats god but better when performed live
this is the song that got me into phil
had it not been for this I never would have heard of Peter Gabriel or Genesis
this is still the best
side 2 of face value was incredible
everytime I search for Good songs somehow I allways see Randallcraig Hi Brother!
What I find quite astonishing: compare how Bassman Leland Sklar looked back in 1983 and how he looks today, e.g. during the TOTO Tour 2006. Has he changed at all????
No, this piece was first heard on the album "Face Value" (1981), not "Hello, I Must Be Going" (1982).
this effect is called "Gated Reverb"
That was indeed pointed out to me. I did see them w/ the Hot Tub Club, so that was likely the previous or following tour.
It wasn't the Hot Tub Club, it as the Phoenix Horns.
Great Great
Ilove that distinctive sound that phil's drums have.
drum, drum ...drum
phil,phil...phil
yeah!
Thanks for posting this!! This is my favorite Phil Collins song as well; very World Music!!
Incredible! Those who find Collins an easy target nowadays- his Disneyesque side did open him up to ridicule as a muzac softie- would be stunned to see how Collins music jammed at this stage in his career. I saw him on this tour w/ "The Hot Tub Club" as his brass section. As this piece demonstrates, Phils music was solid- brass, keyboard and drum intensive pieces adorned with flavorful guitarwork.
It is absolutly Dallas 1985.
Actually, i think this version could be also from the 'hello i must be going' 1982 tour not 1985. Can anybody confirm for me please?
i used to practice this every day when i was like 13 so many good memories.this is my favorite phil song ever it showed a totally other side of him kinda like a funk and jazz side i love this song
Hard to believe it could sound better without the vocalists, but I love the guitar/keyboard interplay.
is there any footage of the 1995 unplugged concert?
that version is great...love the druming at the end
