My ancestors fought in the Irish Brigade with Colonel Mulholland, so I occasionally wear a Union blue forage cap around the station just to fuck with them...

O.K. i stand corrected, and i see the point your making ... i in no way wish to offend anyone who enjoys their hobbies..

It's kind of hard to explain to you if you haven't done any historical recreation. Many of us have ancestors who fought, and we honor them by spending time researching this era and trying to recreate what they did. It helps school children get a better feel for history. I'm sure there's a bit of the child coming out in some of us, or the actor. Many of the guys I know are combat veterans or were at least in the military; many are currently teachers or in law enforcement.

I just don,t get why anyone would want to dress up as men who fought 150 years ago and play "pretend" fights ??... it would be interesting to know how many of those guys have ever pulled a real soldiers uniform on ?..
