I like timbo, but he did steal. Thats that, now it sucks, and he even admitted it. But its not sampling. To sample you need 1.permission and 2. acknowledge the fact that it is indeed from another source. Take a look at the beastie boys or beck. Inside the album cover where it gives credits to the songs, if its using a sample then they say. IE) Epro used a sample from a beastie boys song.

sampling is to recreate or make a same melody as the 1st producer made it. If Timbo had permission of Tempes to do this, it's sampling.. but I guess he didn't cuz he stole arabian beats from the 1960-70' too.. and those producers are dead now! so he's stealin..

Yes it's called Sampling but every Hip Hop Producer that is releasing had to clear the samples he used on his tracks. That means he must pay money to the original artists. Thats the way it normaly works. And that's cool because they deserve credits for their hard work.

The difference is those artists you mentioned 'CLEAR' the samples they use by telling the OWNER of the RIGHTS to that song that they are going to release a track with a sample of it and they pay them $ to clear the sample.

he does use heaps of other artists melodies and tunes (not just samples) with out asking permission. i like him as a producer but you gotta give some recognition to the other artist. any one could of ripped off that song and just add a drum beat if they had an akai mpc 1000 or 3000 or just a drum machine. thats life
