I've said this before...Les is a versitile bassist and while he has amazing chops, he's a bassist. I've played in everything from classical music, jazz to prog metal...and I change my bass playing quite a bit to fit the genre I'm in...its part of the role of any good musician.

Um...les claypool sounds like victor wooten? When was the last time you saw Victor play an upright...never! How about a bass with 6 strings or no frets or with a wammy bar? Les has chops but his tone and approach is way different than Wooten. The fact you said that means you don't really listen to either of them all that much...

well cliff was pretty good as far as metal shredding goes, just like kurt was good at... uhh, yelling? ok to be fair kurt was a decent songwriter and he could have gone further with that. cliff could've become a metal bass shredder god but that's about it.

Yeah Cliff was a damn good player, but not the greatest.... But both Cliff and Kurt were some of the greatest musicians.

BULLSHIT! Cliff WAS good. Was he the best? No. But...his style was awesome, AND his solos were awesome. Listen to Anesthesia and tell me that he's "not that good".

I've always wondered if people realized that Metallica decided not to let Les Claypool join and not the other way around. The reason why? They said he was too good for their band.

Wow i fucking love primus. i thought the fact that i said they were one of the most skilled bands of all time was good...

the difference with cliff was that he pushed Metallica to go somewhere after dave mustaines departure and the moving of the band.

hahaha....cliff is mainly recognized for how different he was buddie....we all know that he wasnt the BEST bass player...there will NEVER be a BEST....but cliff is one of the greatest....i mean come on...ppl like les claypool and victor wooten all sound the same....nothing like cliff...ya kno? not tryin to be a dick, nor am i dissin anyone...=)
