Carlys performance was good, but Leona's was great, she had alot more range and flavor in it.

Carly has a great voice but it cannot compare to Leona's. Leona Lewis along with Christina Aguilera are the best singers under 30. Beyonce cannot even outsing Leona Lewis, it's not possible. No one can EVER sing this song the way Mariah sang it, but Leona..came damn close.

Leona? best singer of the planet?she was good but not great,let's see Leona attempt a fast song, sorry,but VERSATILITY is the true test of how great a singer is,& Mariah/Celine, although one dimensional always deliver flawless performances & has much personality and besides,Mariah, although good at ballads, is doing an RnB type of song,I mean,would you even picture many people buying an album full of ballads? In short, you have no clue what you're talking about & if I had to pick, I'd pick Carly

As much as i enjoy Carly's singing, Leona Lewis is one of the best singer's on this planet. If you listen to Maria Carey's version her low register is also very quiet ... it is dynamics my friends. Soft and mellow; almost a whisper (which is much harder to sing than singing louder) and Leona's range is just outstanding. I think in time, when Leona gets more experience she could give a performance that equals or matches Mariah's version. Carly could never achieve that.

one more thing:the X Factor is a competition for the judges, too, and each judge gets a category, and whoever has the category of the winning contestant wins. Leona was in Simon's category, and I don't know if you've noticed, but voters often seem to listen to his opinion over the other judges' on both shows. So if he says she's great, people will vote for her, and did (although she did actually deserve to win, I'm just saying she wasn't as perfect as he made her out to be)

Here I come Again, she completely changed the arrangement and gave an amazing vocal, and all Simon did was criticize her outfit. Professional critics watching this show loved Carly, so obviously there is something wrong with Simon, not Carly. And God, Leona's a great singer, but that whiny quality in her voice just grates on my nerves after a while.

I think that in this particular performance, Leona was probably better, although Carly's lower notes were better. The thing is, Simon either does not know as much about music as he should, or for some reason is trying to make her look bad, because while he never had any bad comments for Leona (for example he could have mentioned that the first half of the song was too low for her, and too quiet) every week, he withheld praise from Carly when she really deserved it. When she sang...

OH COME OFF IT. Please, all you have to do is listen to Simon's comments. On carly's: 'It was an OK version.' On Leona's: 'An incredible performance.' How can you say Carly's is better technically when you HAVE THE EVIDENCE RIGHT THERE. Simon knows more about music than any of us here put together. Hw is responible for the success of many artists. He says Leona's version was much better, so it has to be. He's not lying.

How can everyone say Leona is trying to be like Mariah when SHE IS THE ONE DOING HER OWN INTERPRETATION of the song: Carly's was just a carbon copy of Mariah's except with about a tenth of the vocal quality. Leona Rearranged some parts and she's not just a copy.

i think carly was better cos leona was so quiet at the beginning i could barely hear her. she got better and i like her but i think carly showed more power and was better.

I think they're both great. But I like the power in Carly's voice.

It's a tie. Carly definitely wins in the lower register, you can barely even hear Leona. But Carly's high notes aren't as good as Leona's but Carly has such volume. They're both good in their own way, but not as good as Mariah's.

Axexyz, you're obviously an idiot yourself, Leona wasn't great at all, her lower register sucks, she was way too overrated, well maybe because she's the best contestant they had produced in the X Factor, they had to pimp her to make their British show 'great', but technically, Carly wins, in terms of Low and High Notes, she wasn't given enough credit since there were some no talent cash cows this season (e.g.Archie), and plus, Carly can sing anything, what can Leona sing besides ballads?
