@IstorieAdevarataX Trebuie să fii mândru de acest film să fie stabilit în ţara dumneavoastră, atunci.

what a brave girl. i feel sorry for the ones who died as an innocent who were acused as a witch or a servent of Satan. back then, if you were accused by even one person, the courts find you guilty right away. those judgement back then were not onlt unfair, but just terrifying

1:45 ... squeam!

I saw this about '61 or so. I was about 11. When that mask got hammered onto her face I just about pooped! I then watched with my jacket over my head and peeking through the jacket sleeve and then after awhile I switched to peeking thought the vent holes in my baseball cap. Man, was I scared witless! Ha, ha, ha!!

only a movie from the 60s would have a moral obligation disclaimer.

The action happens in Moldavia, where I am from :). One more thingh : there was no inquisition in Moldavia :)

I saw this at the age of seven in 1962. You can guess the rest....

Il maestro dell'horror italiano, in assoluto

4:13 Ouch! That's gotta hurt.

This a hell of an eerie film. And incredibly sumptuous. I must see it again...

Mario Bava's classic masterpiece additionally enhanced by the flawless Les Baxter score. Although the foreign score was good, watching "Black Sunday" without the Baxter score is like watching a totally different film.

Thanks for posting this! I've always wanted to see the AIP cut. I still slightly prefer the Italian cut better though.

Masterpiece

Great film. Thanks for sharing.

i dont think its the gory part that makes the film scary, its more the element of the film and the subject matter for that. plus...it was 1960, things like that were probably seen as way creepier back then as we would think they are now. idk, just givin some ideas hehe

i was five in 1960 and it gave me bad dreams too

Got to see this recently projected onto a 90-inch screen in my backyard! It was simply awesome! Thanks for your comment :)

I used this scene in my Miss dEdmonton application!

Yep, and its likes will never be duplicated, in my opinion...only from the mind of Mario Bava!

I saw it in 1960, 8 yrs. old...scared me !! I had "nightmares"! (( Left an "impression")) I never forgot this one, but I'm a "horror/sci-fi "nut" anyway... DIg em' ! MJ

4:00 is awesome.

But this was the best!!

That whole "mature minds" opening was just a marketing gimmick to sell this low budget film. There were far gorier movies than this at the time

Yeah, and its funny that the message doesn't appear in the international version.

Ow, just ow with that mask. What a way to go. Especially if those spikes didn't enter the brain and kill dem instantly. Yeesh.
